Birth doula in Kent and Medway

Continuous, unhurried support through labour and birth — at home, in a birth centre or at Medway Maritime, Tunbridge Wells and the other hospitals across Kent.

A birth doula is with you for the whole of your labour. Not for a shift, not between other patients: from the moment you want me there until a few hours after your baby has arrived.

I live in Lordswood, Chatham, and travel to families within about 55 miles, which covers Medway, most of Kent and a good part of south-east London. I know the local maternity units, how they differ, and what it is realistic to ask for in each.

Who I support

  • First-time parents who want someone experienced in the room
  • Parents planning a home birth in Medway or Kent
  • Parents booked at Medway Maritime, Darent Valley, Maidstone, Pembury or a London hospital
  • Parents planning a caesarean, or hoping for a VBAC
  • Families who would rather talk it all through in Russian

What birth support includes

  • Meetings through pregnancy to prepare and write your birth plan
  • On call for you day and night from 37 weeks
  • Continuous support throughout labour, wherever you give birth
  • Massage, breathing, positions, rebozo and aromatherapy
  • Help asking the right questions when decisions come up
  • Three hours with you after the birth, and a visit in the days that follow

Common questions

When should I book?

The second trimester is ideal, as it leaves time to prepare together. I have also been called during labour and it still made a difference, so it is never too late to ask.

Do you work with NHS midwives?

Yes, and gladly. I carry out no clinical tasks: your midwife looks after the medical side while I look after you.

What if my labour starts while you are at another birth?

I keep only one client on call at a time around your due date, and I have trusted local doulas as backup if the unimaginable happens.
